Joakim studied English and linguistics at Lund University in his native Sweden, before moving to London in 1996 to enrol at London Film School, where he edited several award winning short films as well as trying his hand at writing and directing.
After graduating, he went on to do freelance work on feature films before joining Sam Sneade Editing in 2000, where he edited commercials and dramas that have gone on to win some of the most coveted prizes in the industry, including the Cannes Gold Lion. He worked with directors such as Jonathan Glazer, Allen Coulter and Dougal Wilson.
In 2004, Joakim moved to Stockholm where he set up his own company editing drama and commercials. There, he worked with directors such as Traktor, Adam Berg and Martin Werner for brands like Volvo, IKEA, Audi and Magnum, as well as editing cult comedy series “Morran & Tobias” for Swedish television and later its hit movie spin-off.
In 2015, he became the first ever editor to win a Roy Award for his editing of Volvo’s campaign “A New Beginning” starring Avicii.
